ABOUT THE SHOW: FADING INTO FORM
Jackie Flanagan Pangelinan’s body of work is an exploration of depth, texture, and movement — an intuitive process of mining layers to reveal hidden forms. She builds compositions with rounds of acrylic splatters and drips, marks in pencil and oil stick, and images transferred from old magazine pages layered over collaged papers. She then distresses each work by scratching and sanding, blending and blurring the edges of color and shape. Forms emerge and dissolve, acting as portals, echoes, or celestial bodies within her abstract expressionist experiments. The titles of many works in the collection are drawn from bits of text embedded in the layers, inviting viewers to uncover meaning within these visual musings.
